Sophie Eastland Rides for Charity: Operation Float a Soldier

For those of you who do not know, James and Sophie are training for a Self-Supported Bicycle race that is called Salida to the Sea. Generally speaking: The race is a self-supported MTN bike race covering 2000 miles of biking adventure over the terrain of 5 states with approx. 143,000 feet of climbing. The race begins just outside the mountain town of Salida, Colorado and ends in Port Orford, Oregon. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 claimed this event as well, so there is no formal race. But just because Salida to the Sea has been canceled, does not stop this father, daughter duo.

At just 9 years of age Sophie asked her Dad James if they could train and then go give the course a shot despite there not being a formal race. So that is what they are doing. They are going to head up to Colorado in early September. Giving the course a shot is not enough for James and Sophie, they are doing so in order to raise money for OFAS. At this point James and Sophie have already raised $4606.00 and there are no signs of them slowing down anytime soon. If you would like to help James and Sophie raise money for OFAS you can do so by clicking “Donate Here” button. No donation is too large or too small. Even if you donate $1.00 and your neighbor donates $1.00 it always equals a lot. As I continually say… a little plus a little is a lot.

Disclaimer: All funds that James and Sophie raise will go to OFAS & none will go to help fund their training or the race in Colorado.  Also, OFAS is a local Volunteer 501(C)(3) organization that is geared to help our countries wounded military personnel enjoy a little time to just get away and escape the realities of their injuries with their families.

Interviewing the Dynamic Duo

In this video, I speak to James and Sophie Eastland about the fliers they had created. The Flier is a laminated copy of the article that Mikala Compton of the Herald-Zeitung wrote describing the wonderful Father Daughter adventure James and Sophie are on. They are asking local business to post up the article to help them out.  If you would like to hang one of these fliers in your place of business, email James at jameseastland@hotmail.com & he will mail one out to you ASAP!
